Does an assessment make sense for you?

Twelve questions. You get the result on this page immediately, with no sign-up and nothing emailed to you.

This is not a diagnostic test. It is not a validated instrument and it cannot tell you whether you are autistic or have ADHD. It is a structured way of asking the questions a clinician would start with, so you can decide whether a real assessment is worth your money.

Answer for how things have been across your life, not just the last few weeks.

1. Social situations take conscious effort — you work out what to say rather than it arriving naturally.

2. People have told you that you are blunt, or that you missed something in a conversation that seemed obvious to everyone else.

3. Unexpected changes to plans or routine unsettle you more than they seem to unsettle other people.

4. Particular sounds, lights, textures or smells are genuinely painful or overwhelming, not just annoying.

5. You have deep, absorbing interests you can stay focused on for hours.

6. You start things with real enthusiasm and then do not finish them.

7. Your attention slides away during conversations, meetings or reading, even when it matters.

8. You put off important tasks until the pressure is almost unbearable, then do them in one burst.

9. You are restless — fidgeting, needing to move, or mentally never quite switched off.

10. You speak or act before you have thought it through, and regret it afterwards.

11. These things have got in the way of your work, study or relationships.

12. You keep up by masking, over-preparing, or exhausting yourself.

Whatever this said, it is a prompt to think, not a verdict. If your answers were low but something still does not feel right, that is worth taking seriously too — your GP is a reasonable place to start.
